Empty Nesters - Letting Go When Your Child Leaves For College

Facebook I brought a smile on my face tonight that read something. It was a college freshman said, "Mom, quit commenting on your posts."

Today's technology like Twitter and Facebook and social medial applications, it is very easy to forget that our adult children deserve and need opportunities to develop their sense of their independence.

When I was college-aged, mostly girls home about once a week is called. These conversations tend to last about an hour and the girls have the opportunity to catch up with Mom and Dad.

Today, parents texting, email and even their children on a daily basis, Facebooking, even a young child entering preschool is harder than making separation.

As parents, one of his work to help us teach children the skills needed to begin an independent life.

When my daughter went overseas, we had an agreement. He's my Facebook page and permission to use photos, but he did not want me to comment on that. I really was fine with that. See photos and read updates as I know he's making friends and having a good time. Mother comments that her request was legitimate request and I was willing to accept.

Life happens and when our children need us, they'll let us know. I just from the perspective of a mother with daughters call it. I still call my mother and said "Mom, I want your opinion on something."

During my life, I have very good decision and I decided that I wish I did not. I know my own kids too great to make decisions and they do it again at a decision they want to "will.

Just last night, I met an old friend. Her daughter is in college and a new country is. She discovered that her daughter loved this part of the country. At home, the whole family enjoys the "Favorite Restaurant" are. When your child goes off, they get their favorite search. How they navigate a new town to the grocery store, laundromat, and get out more.

It's really hard to let go when their children leave for college. However, it also helps them to live independently is an important step in beginning to learn.
